Tankerman Trainee

SGS Petroleum Service Corporation is now enrolling trainees for the next session of its Tankerman Career Academy (TCA) to be held in Baton Rouge, LA. Train to be a U.S. Coast Guard-certified tankerman, be job ready in only four months, and get paid while you train (full-time only). We offer job opportunities upon TCA graduation for work in the greater Baton Rouge and New Orleans areas, average yearly earnings of more than $60,000, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical/dental/life insurance, long term disability insurance, paid vacation, and matching 401(k).
What is a Tankerman?
- Supervises the transfer of petrochemicals to barges
- Person-in-charge of critical operations
- Certified by the US Coast Guard
- Responsible for protecting the environment
Specialized Tankerman Training
- Classroom instruction
- One-on-one field training
- Fast-paced training format
Get Paid While You Train
- Hourly wages plus mileage reimbursement for travel to and from field training locations
- Time-and-a-half for all instruction hours in excess of 40 hours per week
Admission Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older and a US citizen
- Speak fluent English
- Possess a high school diploma or a recognized equivalency certificate
- Have a valid driver's license and no felony convictions
- Successful completion of interview process
- Pass a drug screen and physical exam
